When we were younger, our teachers would ask us to enumerate the five basic needs of man. But as we got older; time would bring more workload and adverse circumstances which is why we need to alter these basic needs to survive the unending stress brought by adulthood.
Here are the five basic needs modified for your stress busting needs:
1. Food- Our Science subjects always include the study of go, grow, and glow foods. Well, time to brush up your memory because the best way to fight stress is still through good eating habits. Stress is never an excuse to skip meals or worse, turn to binge eating.Bulimia nervosa is one of the eating disorders associated with stress. A bulimic person usually practice over-eating and later on, engage on inappropriate compensatory behavior to prevent weight gain such as self-induced vomiting, inappropriate fasting, and even excessive exercise.
2. Shelter- When was the last time you organized your thing at home? Another stress buster is through cleaning up your place. If it’s possible, you can rearrange your room for a new look. Aside from indulging in a productive activity, cleaning up your room makes you think well and attract positive energies.
3.Water- Water, in many ways, is a good source of a calming aura. That’s the reason why most spas and even malls have fountains to ingest a calm feeling to the surrounding. Also, drinking eight glasses of water a day and taking a good bath before going to sleep is also helpful for the body to replenish it from toxins. Excessive drinking of alcoholic beverages alarms psychiatrists. Aside from dehydrating the body, experts say that dependence on these drinks is also a symptom of inappropriate reliance on things because of stress.
4.Air-Breathe a reminder we always hear from our moms when we are in rush and are stressed out. Moreover, deep breathing does a lot to the body. Yoga, one of the leading de-stressing exercise, is also defined as 108 bodily postures practiced with control of breathings and heart rhythm. Pranayama, one of the eight primary teaching as the vital energy that we need.
5Clothing-Looking great makes one feel good, so start sorting ensembles that look good on you. It is not necessary that you feel great about yourself and confident enough, whatever your style may be.There are 1,001 tips on how to de-stress and live a fun-filled life. Some people would also advise you to take a vacation or go to a spa. But come to think of it, the things listed above were the five basic needs taught to us when we were younger it just needed to be modified for our modern needs. Sometimes, it takes small steps to go further.
